Assist Pro began during my SAICA articles at Core Audit in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Working with financial records and audit working papers, I kept coming back to the same Excel tasks: cleaning general ledger exports, checking amounts, comparing records, selecting samples and preparing files for review.
I started building small Excel and VBA tools to make those steps easier in my own work. As the collection grew, I brought the tools together in the Assist Pro ribbon, making them accessible in the spreadsheets I was already using each day.
My articles gave me experience in audit, review and compilation work across businesses, non-profit organisations, schools and attorney trust accounts. Stock counts, asset testing, journal reviews and reconciliations taught me the value of clear evidence, accurate calculations and working papers that another person can follow.
As I took on more responsibility, I saw how much time repetitive preparation could take away from understanding the figures and investigating differences. That became the thinking behind Assist Pro: help people prepare, analyse and document their work, with results they can check and use confidently.
What began as a personal toolkit has grown into tools for everyday Excel users and accounting and audit teams. Data cleaning, sampling, journal analytics and comparison tools reflect the practical work behind the product. Macro Wizard carries that idea forward by helping users create and save routines for their own recurring tasks.
My focus remains on solving real problems, reducing repetitive steps and giving people more time to apply their knowledge and judgement.
